Between now and the yeaz 2020, it is projected that the
retirement age population (65 +) will increase 131.6°,6 compazed to a projected 38.1%
growth among all age groups. Because of the increased growth in the retirement age
population, there is a need for future planning to improve the quality of life for
everyone regazdless of their age or functional status. The M.A.P. would serve as a five-
yeaz strategic plan for the yeazs 2000-2004.
Your name was suggested as a possible participant in this exciting planning process. We
aze looking for people with special interests, knowledge and experience from both
professional and personal perspectives to be a part of this historic effort. Enclosed is an
application for participation as well as a copy of the goals and objectives of the M.A.P.
and timelines for completion of each. If you are interested in being a part of this exciting
effort, please return the application by Friday, September 3,1999, in order to be
considered. For your convenience, your completed application can be returned in the
enclosed stamped envelope.
If you have questions regazding the application or the planning process, feel free to
contact Jerry Passmore, Project Manager at (919) 967-9251 ext. 2009.
Based on the level of interest and the number of applications submitted, all interested
persons may not be appointed. You will be contacted regarding your appointment.
Thank you for your interest in improving the quality of life of older residents in Orange
County. We look forwazd to your involvement in this exciting effort to make the
County a place where people can enjoy growing old.
Sincerely,
Florence Soltys,
Orange County Advisory Boazd on Aging
enclosure
