BOOK ~ ;_~LE 2SS <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Bennett, seconded by Commissioner Ward, it was <br />moved and adopted that the County Administrator be authorized to sign the contract <br />for the Orange County Rescue Squad. <br />The County Administrator informed the Board that they must adopt an accession <br />ratio for the tax year 1970-71. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ward, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, it was <br />moved and adopted that the 1970 accession ratio based on the 1964 valuation be <br />established at 70% of the total value. <br />Chairman Smith filed the following items with the Clerk. <br />1. Memorandum from the North Carolina Governor's Coordinating <br />Council on Aging <br />2. Memorandum on Executive Order number 3 <br />3. Memorandum from North Carolina Central Area Development ~ <br />Association <br />A. Invitation to the Vance County Housing Fair <br />5. Invitation to a joint meeting of RC&D and Fish <br />and Wildlife Committee <br />6. Announcement from the State Hoard of Education <br />7. Minutes of the Health Planning Council for <br />Central North Carolina <br />8. A letter from B. B. Olive, Patent Attorney, relative <br />to Mobile Homes. <br />I <br />9. Notice of Hearing by Board of Alocholic Control <br />for Corner Grocery and Kitten Corner ' <br />10. May, 1970 issue of "Countylines" <br />11. May 1, 1970, issue of'NACO News & Views" <br />12. Reports from the Grand Jury <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, said meeting was <br />adjourned to meet again on Monday, June 8, 1970, in the Courtroom of the Court <br />House, Tuesday, June 9, 1970, in the Commissioners Roam, Tuesday, June 16, 1970, ~ <br />in the Commissioners Room, Wednesday, June 17, 1970, Wednesday, June 17, 1970, in ~ <br />the Commissoners Room and Tuesday, June 23, 1970, in the Commissioners Rogm. <br />I <br />Carl M. Smith, Chairman <br />Betty June Hayes, Clerk <br />MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY i <br />BDARD OF COMMISSIONERS ~ <br />The Board of Commissioners of Orange County met in adjourned session at the <br />Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina, in the Courtroom at 8 o'clock P.M. on <br />Monday, June 8, 1970. <br />Members Present: Chairman Carl M. Smith, and Commissioners Harvey D. Bennett, <br />Ira A. Ward, Henry Walker, and William Ray. <br />Members Absent: None <br />Chairman Smith stated this meeting was called for the purpose of conducting ~ <br />the duly publicized public hearing vn zoning matters. Chairman Smith then turned { <br />the meeting over to Charles Johnston, Chairman of the County Planning Board. Mr. ~ <br />Johnston conducted the public hearing. For minutes of the meeting, you are hereby <br />referred to the minutes of the County Planning Board. ~ <br />At the conclusion of the meeting, Chairman Johnston turned the meeting over .to j <br />Chairman Smith who then declared the public hearing adjourned. <br />Chairman Smith then announced that a meeting of the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners would be convened. ~ <br />I <br />Chairman Smith recognized L. A. Dixon who stated that he was the spokesman <br />for the group of citizens for the Mebane area and that he was present to discuss <br />the policy which had been adopted by the Orange County Board of Education relative <br />to the required attendance of their children to Orange County School System.
