On the proposed amendment to Section 11.3(a), the
board recommends that this section in both the Eno and Chapel
Hill Township Zoning Ordinance be combined, and that in so
doing the two Zoning Ordinances be combined by resolution
into one Orange County Zasrig Ordinance.
Discussion ensued relative to this proposed amendment to Section 11.3(a)
relative to the combination of the Chapel Hill Township Zoning Ordinance and '~
the Enp Township Zoning Ordinance. Same to read as follows:
That Section 11.3(a) of Chapel Hill Township Zoning Ordinance and
Eno Township Zoning Ordinance be combined to read as fellows:
Section 11.3(a) That the subdivision plat was filed as a legal
retard in the Office of the Orange County
Register of Deeds prior to February 6, 1967,
the effective date of this ordinance in Chapel
Hill Township, and March 2, 1970, the effective
date of this ordinance in Eno Township.
Mr. Long advised the Board that he needed to schedule a public meeting on the
Zoning matters. Chairman Smith advised Mr. Long to schedule the public hearing on
Zoning matters for Thursday, June 18th at $ o'clock P.M. in the courtroom of the
County Court House in Hillsborough.
Commissioner Ray stated that emphasis should be placed on the matter of silt being
washed in to open streams by contractors who strip the land and then leave same without
adequate protection. He requested Mr. Long to bring this matter to the attention of
the County Planning Board.
The County Administrator reported that Commissioners Ward, Ray and he had met with
Pearson Stewart and Jake Wicker for the purpose of discussing the question of a water
and sewer feasibility study. He presented the following memorandum.
"Pearson Stewart pointed out the fact that we have two
types of areas under considerations first, the developed area
with a problem already existing, and second, the undeveloped
area which might become a potential problem if it were developed.
It was his thinking that through land use control the second type
of situation could be prevented. The first type, however, could ^nly
be corrected through a government agency or a private group formed
for the purpose of correcting the problem. He felt our efforts
should be devoted toward greventi~o the second type situation and
correcting the first type.
