It also would appear to be a dream
come true for Wake school leaders, given the
defeat in June of their $650 million school
bond package.
Stella Shelton, a spokeswoman for the
school system, said administrators had met
with the developers, but that the proposals
weren't far enough along for comment.
"Certainly, though, we're in a position to
listen to any offers like that," she said.
Craig Davis Properties of Raleigh is one of
the region's largest office and warehouse
builders and also is a partner in developing
the retail portion of the Meadowmont mixed-
use project in Chapel Hill.
Davis bought an 80-acre tract in northern
Cary a year and a half ago and wants. to build
a mixed-use project there called Page Plaza.
It would be biased toward commercial con-
struction, but also would include homes built
to the emerging high-density, pedestrian-
friendly model and perhaps the school.
Perry, whose East West Partners is best
known for its role as lead developer of
Meadowmont, built extensive experience in
negotiating with local government during the
grueling approval process for that project.
He was brought in earlier this year as the
managing partner for the 1,100-home Cary
Glen planned unit development in northwest
Cary.
There are aheady homes for sale at Cary
Glen, which was originally planned as a tra-
ditional residential project with mostly sin-
gle-family homes. But Perry envisions
redrawing the plans toinclude ahigh-densi-
ty,pedestrian-oriented project with a village
center featuring homes and. offices above
retail shops and maybe a school, too.
"We're considering all kinds of things at
this point to help us fit the new development
patterns in Cary and allow us to get insoon-
errather than later," Perry said.
The town has a water shortage, and in
August set up an allocation system to divide
the modest amount of remaining capacity
between commercial and residential devel-
o The system savors olderprojects,something
that could hold back Cary Glen and Page Plaza.
But the town added a clause that itwould pro-
videwaterforanynewschool,andseveral City
Council members said that could be stretched
to include both entire projects.
City Council member Glen Lang said that
the discussions had centered on 650-student
elementary schools.
SEE DONATE, PAGE 5g

vi ~t ca ~..~ ~ ~ ~ c.,
a.., of . ti w ~~ O r'~ ~ Vi . ,..,° O O d O O H
a .ti , ~ .C d t0 ~ CI d~~..aq ~ ,yM.O~n'C1 ~ i°i r'~,, ~ ~ O e{S "' ~ eZrry ~°, ~ O.Z t7 d y~~ D '" .~ ,~
.y 1~~^ Q9 S ..Y V .+..i1Y •V ~ n~ ° (~ ~ iV I l T W 1°Y .q D ~ ~'~` ~ ~ ~y b ^~
i1 ~ ~.1 .~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ •~ ~ i3 ~ ~ V Ala ~' ~ .ia ~ ~ ° ~ • W
~~ wa~i~~a.. ~'ao~w~~~~~rao°`~~;~aoi~°~o<° o~3~.a.~o
.9:°~ o~e.>,o°$ ogo~3~«a~i~~~~ye3a~o+iQaav°,v~,m° ~°',~~>~°~~
.,Qp~ y O q ~ O ~ U ~ .CI r.., ,O yW~ O ~'" .O ~ .C7 .4: c7~~„ .~ ~ RS R7 ~ N ~ p ~'' O .s~ O RS o
"' ~ O .p ~'~ °' .n ~' ~ O G .~4 c,~ ~'L~ O ~ ~ 0 0 ~ ~ 0i G ~ ~ .^~J y ¢~~ O ~,a r'' Cj
~,gw~~~. ~O ,~ .a -b~'' ig ~oEtwzs~'o~:~°'.~~o~o 'a~i
$gg~ ~ v~~
~c~w.OCA~~~.C~~~QQ~~~N~CC$f~'~ z7.~ 0~1~C~y ~py0,~ ~' ~~~bo~'.O~i ~..
VJ {..1 rip V2 .~ tti .Q ~ ~ ff~~ O oD ~ .~ p' Vim! ~ ~j ~ r'~i1 ~ vOJ .Q ."~ ~ ~ ~
d O ~ ~. ~ '~
0
Y
~v1
°l '_
a
~ N
v
.C .q ~' ~ Iv .~ ~ Rf a~ y, ~
m .~ .;,; 8 >~ s~ ;zt a> ~ ~ ~ "' ~ a, p3 ~ ~ ayi w ~ •~ nn °~' 3 'd b ~ o
~ a °caa~ °~~'° co°~~~~ 0~~~~33o,~a~°~ ~~ ~~~s~ 3ro
.N 4. .» an ~.. y a~ o o ~ a~ ti
o u~,q ~ ~~ ~,~~.o~s a~ ~,a~a a~ iR~~''»a-'Q.~, a~o~~~.,o
.~•o~ 3 ~.~ air c~c~~ ~ ~,'l;~ ~ ao~v~ o.'~ o ~ ~~i cUF~.~ c'3S ~~,a
