S <br />C. Urban and Rural Public Services and Facilities <br />• Locate development where the provision of public services is safe and <br />cost effective. <br />• 1. If development is close to FIRE, EMS and POLICE facilities then <br />• a) faster the response time, b) less travel miles, c) less cost <br />• 2. If development is closer to SCHOOLS then <br />• a) less time for children on buses or travel time for parents, b) more cost <br />effective for bus transportation, c) more interaction with school and <br />nearby community. <br />III. WATERSHED PROTECTION <br />• Discourage development in critical and protected watersheds because <br />watersheds support: <br />• 1. Regional environmental preservation <br />• 2. Regional water supplies <br />IV. ENVIRONMENTALIWILDLIFE CORRIDOR <br />• Discourage development near valuable flora and fauna resources by <br />• 1. Protecting prime forests and wetlands and stream buffers <br />• 2. Providing wildlife corridor connectivity. <br />V. SOIL AND SEPTIC SYSTEM SUITSABILITY <br />• Discourage non -urban development where soils are inadequate to <br />support private septic systems <br />• 1. Potential of environmental health problems are higher. <br />• 2. Potential of groundwater contamination. <br />• 3. Potential of failed private septic systems creating high and long term <br />burden on public fiscal systems. <br />
