Paul Dunn lives in Cornwallis Hills subdivision and said that every truck that passes along
1-40, he can hear. He said that a transfer station in Hillsborough would be extra noise for the
community.
Ken Reardon lives off of the Rogers Road area. He said that he has a PhD in
Environmental Economics and Policy and he also works for an environmental consulting
company. He has mixed opinions. He said that, as a consultant, he views his role as providing
input to the client. Secondly, in his economics background, he thinks that there is a real danger
about using economics as a hammer and forgetting about all the other issues in life. He said
that this is a tough decision. He asked the County Commissioners to take everything into
account.
Kevin Wolff is running for County Commissioner this year. He said that he opposes the
transfer station being on Eubanks Road. He said that sometimes you have to look beyond the
economics. He challenged the community to be thinking about the cost impact and the
environmental impact of shipping garbage a long way from here to another community. He
thinks that the County should reconsider this.
Katherine Hathaway said that she has two grandparents living in her house over 90 and
her father has built on multiple additions to their house.

Chair Jacobs said that all of this information can be accessed through the County's
website. The Manager's Office phone number is 919-245-2300. Also, when the Board comes
back on October 21St, the next step will be to schedule community meetings regarding the sites
that remain.

4. Adopt the County Manager's Recommendation (outlined on Agenda Abstract),
including any additional guidance or direction to County management and Olver,
Inc.
Deferred

5. Adjourn

A motion was made by Commissioner Foushee, seconded by Commissioner Gordon to
adjourn the meeting at 6:53 pm.
VOTE: UNANIMOUS

Barry Jacobs, Chair

Donna S.
