Volunteers are crucial to the conference - iF you would be interested in help- <br />ing make this even happen, we'd love to have you on the team. To apply fora schol- <br />arship call CFSA. To sign up to volunteer, call Rachel Burton at (919) 542-5366. <br />Applications must be received by October 8. <br />Farmer Scholarships <br />A limited number of scholarships are available ro farmers thanks. ro the North Carolina <br />Department of Agriculture and Consun~- Services, The Tumer Foundation, Ben and <br />Jeny's, and The Triad Farm Tour. The scholarship covers lodging and wnference fees <br />including meals. Recipients will be required ro work a rota) of 4 hours at the conference. <br />To apply for a scholarship, call CFSA. Applications must be received by October 15. <br />Exhibits <br />Exhibitors are welcome. The fees, per table, are $100 for commercial exhibitors and <br />$50 For non-profits. Attending conference sessions and meals are an additional cost <br />for exhibirors. To reserve exhibit space, call call Rachel Burton at (919) 542-5366. <br />Ss°tent Ruction <br />Don't forget ro bid on your favorite auction items- it's lots of fun and a great Fund- <br />raiser for CFSA. Items range from fertilizer ro artwork. The silent auction will begin at <br />the start of the conference and end at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Bidders must be present at <br />the auction closing ro claim items. Bid early and often. <br />If you have any items or services ro donate or can solicit donations on behalf of CFSA, <br />please call CFSA at (919) 542-2402. Donated items could be gardening or fanning <br />supplies, books (anything new or in good condition), etc. Services could include land- <br />scaping, teaching, etc. <br />,SpOnsOYSh1p <br />CFSA thanks those sponsors listed on the outside back page of this flier for their early <br />and generous support of this event and sustainable agriculture in the Carolinas. <br />Businesses, organizations, and individuals wishing to sponsor the Sustainable <br />Agriculture Conference by making a contribution may contact the CFSA office for fur- <br />ther information. All sponsors will be recognized during the conference. <br />Seed d9' Plant Exchange <br />Seed saving and plant exchanges are key steps ro regional self-determination, preser- <br />vation of genetic diversify, and selection of regionally adapted and improved vari- <br />eties. Please label each seed or plant variety with species and variety name, original <br />source if known, saver's name, geographic place where grown, methods (organic, <br />conventional) and any comments on the variety's features, advantages, ornamental or <br />craft uses, etc. Bring bulk or prepackaged seed. We recommend packaging appro- <br />priatenumbers of seeds (25 for garden plants, 100-200 for field crops). If you have <br />questions, please call Lee Barnes at (828) 452-5716. <br />4 <br />
