I wanted to.provide a brief report on the meeting that Chair Gordon* and I had with the Mayor, Manager and two Councilmen-of a City of Mebane, on Monday, April 19. As discussion proceeded, there were expressions by .all :of us indicating -a deeper understanding of the issues faced by the other party. Mebane officials .indicated a Willingness to pursue the concept of joint planning with Orange County: With regardL to a : - moratorium, Mebane officials agreed to look at the proposed legislation; and there were expressions made that a moratorium o& on satelliteannexations and only until joint planning was in place may be more acceptable than their understanding of the present drafted legislation. Discussion was concluded with the agreement that Mebane would respond. to the County letter within a week. 13
