<br />Two petitions for the naming of atreeta outside the City Limits were submitted
<br />to the Board by the County Administrator. Mr, Gattis explained that the need for
<br />establishing a name for each of these streets was pursuant to the extension of
<br />city delivery service, because postal regulations requires that each street be
<br />named and cash house be numbered, The property owners on County Road ~'llsl.F were
<br />petitioning that said road be designated as Oak Road and the property owners on
<br />County Road x'1152 were petitioning that said road be designated as i4cAdama Road,
<br />Mr, Gattis stated further that the Rillsborough postmaster had advised him that
<br />if these atreeta were duly named, by the County, then city mail delivery would
<br />be instituted in the area, .
<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Rey, seconded by Commissioner Ward, it was
<br />moved and unanimously adopted, that Secondary Road #I1$(.~. be named Oak Road and
<br />that Seaondary Road X11$2 be named Mc4dama Road,
<br />The Clerk was renuested to advise the Hillsborough Postmaster and the State
<br />Highway Cotrnnieaion of the action relative to the naming oP the two seoondary
<br />roads,
<br />A request for the Carolina Union to hold a fireworks display in Chapel Rill
<br />on Saturday, May 2, 1970, was submitted to the Board,
<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Bennett, seconded by Commissioner Ward, it was
<br />moved and unanimously adopted, that a permit be issued to the Carolina IInion
<br />on the condition that the fireworks display would be held under the supervision
<br />of some member of the Chapel Rill Fire Department,
<br />
<br />Chairman Smith directed the County Administrator to advise the head of each
<br />department that due to the death of Judge Leo Carr the Courthouse would be _
<br />closed from 10 o~clock A. M, until 1 o~alock P, M, on Tuesday, April 7, 1970,
<br />Chairman Smith advised the Board that, by way of letter, the Health Planning
<br />Council for Central North Carolina unanimously endorsed the nomination of Dr,
<br />William J. Cromartie, i4rs, Frances Taylor and Dr. 0. David Garvin ea members of
<br />the Board of Directors representing Orange County, These appointments will ba
<br />effective for terms ending June 18, 1972, i
