<br />RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR FLOOD. <br />REL-IEF TO EDGECOMBE COUNTY <br />WHEREAS, the citizens of Edgecombe County suffered great loss of life, <br />dwellings and the resources for normal existence, as well as unmeasurable damage to <br />their communities and. sense of well-being, due to the flooding from Hurricane Floyd; and <br />WHEREAS, full recovery will be a long and arduous process; and <br />WHEREAS, the. citizens of Orange County, the Board of County Commissioners, <br />and County staff empathize with the challenges faced by our neighbors in Edgecombe <br />County; and <br />WHEREAS, Orange County. citizens remain grateful for the assistance afforded <br />them by others in the wake of the disaster that befell our county in 1996 due to Hurricane <br />Fran; and <br />WHEREAS, all in Orange County wish to assist our neighbors in eastern North <br />Carolina in the recovery from Hurricane Floyd. <br />THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />hereby directs the County Manager and staff to coordinate proactive relief efforts with <br />the Town Managers of Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Hillsborough, and respond to requests <br />by Edgecombe County for equipment, staff and other support that may be provided for <br />the duration of the recovery period. <br />____._ Alice M.
