Department <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Laura Blackmon, County Manager, 245- <br />Exhibits 1-6 2306 <br />Gwen Harvey, Assistant Manager, 245- <br />2307 <br />Gayle Wilson, Solid Waste Director, <br />968-2285 <br />PURPOSE: <br />To request BOCC receive presentation and background information from Olver, Inc. on sites <br />recommended for Community-Specific Criteria evaluation in the next phase of locating a <br />Transfer Station in Orange County. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />A total of eleven qualified sites emerged from extensive review by the team from Olver, Inc. <br />using the BOCC adopted .Exclusionary Criteria and Technical Criteria over the course of the <br />summer. Olver, Inc: is recommending that a total of seven from the eleven be approved by the <br />BOCC to advance to the next level of evaluation under the BOCC adopted Community-Specific <br />Criteria. <br />Should the BOCC grant approval, Olver, Inc. proposes to organize and facilitate public <br />information meetings in proximity to the seven sites to obtain preliminary comments and input <br />during September -October. Olver, Inc. would return to the BOCC at its October Transfer <br />Station Siting work session with findings and feedback to enable the BOCC to furtfier narrow <br />the number of sites that would be subjected to intensive Community-Specific Criteria evaluation <br />during October-November, including additional public information meetings. A BOCC decision <br />on the final site for the new Transfer Station is contemplated for its November Transfer Station <br />Siting work session. • <br />Olver, Inc. as agent for the County has notified the owners of each of the eleven sites, by <br />certified mail and phone, of findings and conclusions pertinent to their property, and the <br />opportunity to be present and/or submit written comments at the work session on September <br />
