1 <br />BOOK "~ ~..-',GE `~J~ ~' <br />John Lazelow stated that he could not nee that zoning was an oppressor <br />of the poor and that we should support the proposed zoning ordinance, because <br />the Failure to do so would be a near sighted action on the part of all citizens. <br />Chairman Smith declared that the time allocated to the proponents had <br />expired. <br />Chairman 5mith_ reaognized the following persons: , <br />P1, Y. Manson, Attorney from Durham, announced that petitions would be <br />left at Underwood's store for all those opposed to zoning to sign and thin <br />petition would 1e~ter be filed with the Hoard oP Cotamiasioners. <br />. Flowers identified himself as a resident oP Eno township <br />residingvon Lit. Herman Road and as the owner of a mobile horns park. <br />Mr. Flowers spoke in opposition to the proposed zoning ordinance and <br />suggested that the matter of zoning be put to a vote oP the people. <br />"!lade Parrish, Fresident of the Crange County S;obile Home Fark Association, <br />spoke against the proposed zoning ordinance. He stated that he spoke in <br />behalf of the membership of the Crange County uobile Homa Fark Association. <br />Charlie Hodson, Attorney from Chapel Hill, identified himself as <br />representing Jaak Childress, resident and property owner is Enc township. ' <br />Mr. Hodson stated that the Eno township area was already running over with <br />all sorts of inspection and that the area needed no additional inspections <br />.and regulations. <br />Ector ?"!Dods identified himself as n resident and mobile home park owner <br />in Eno township. Mr. Hoods requested the Hoard of Co_:~isaioners to place ' <br />the proposal oP zoning to a note. <br />Johnnie McIntyre identified himself as a resident of Colonic Fark ~ <br />Extension C and spoke against the proposed zoning ordinance. <br />Chairman Smith stated that both the opponents and the proponents had <br />used approximately equal tins and unless other persons desired to speak he <br />was going to make a closing statement and adjourn the public rearing. <br />E, C. Brooks, Attorney From Durham, spoke in favor of the proposed ~~ <br />zoning ordinance and requested the Board of Commissioners to adopt same. <br />Chairman Smith stated that +ir. Brooks had used eight minutes in behalf ~ <br />of the proponents and he would, therefore, allow eight minutes to the <br />opponents. <br />Don Bill spoke against the enactment of the proposed zoning ordinance. ~. <br />He asked how a minority of the people could know what is best Far the <br />minority oP the people. He stated further that the public hearing was one + . <br />sided and that the Hoard had already made up its wind and if this was the <br />case he could nee no purpose in holding the public hearing and that hs felt <br />that the Hoard of Commissioners should put the matter of zoning to a vote of <br />the people. <br />E. F. Jones spoke against the proposed zoning ordinance. He stated j . <br />that some form of zoning was necessary sometime, however, zoning would effect i <br />taxes by increasing them and that the proposed zoning ordinance was neither <br />what Enc township warted or needed. _ ~ <br />I <br />Chairman Smith stated that he would recognize further speakers from ~ <br />either the opponents or the proponents. h'o one came forth. <br />i <br />Chairman Smith reauested that all persons who did not have an opeortunity <br />to speak night file a written statement with the clerk and that these ~ <br />statements be submitted prior to Suonday, February 2, 1970. ' <br />Chairman Smith then reaognized L, ti, Cheshire, County Attorney, who <br />stated that the purpose of this public hearing had been to oonsider the <br />adoption of a Ordinance for Eno township and that all psraons who vranted to <br />be heard on the matter should come forth at this time. 2w one came forth. j <br />
