Br. Andersen stated that he felt each <br />individual must give up a measure of freedom to achieve a measure of protection <br />for all persons, <br />Chairman Smith declared the time allocated to the proponents had expired, <br />Chairman Smith then recognized the following persona: <br />V7, Y, Manson, Attorney at Law, from Durham, North Carolina, who identified <br />himself as representing ~V. R, Shambley, property owner in Eno township. He <br />spoke in opposition to the proposed zoning ordinanne and stated that his <br />client felt he should be allowed the privilege of utilizing his property as <br />he so chose and that he should not be subject to so many regulations and <br />controls. Mr. Pdanaon requested that those opposed to the proposed zoning <br />ordinance hold up their hand. He stated that, from the show oP hands, he <br />was of the opinion that the majority of the persons present were opposed <br />to the proposed zcning ordinance. <br />Don Hill, identified himself as a resident sad property owner in Eno <br />township and he spoke against the proposed Zoning ordinance, Mr, Hill <br />stated he had moved from Durham County into Grande County for the purpose <br />of escaping Zoning regulations and that he did not want to be confronted <br />with the matter, <br />Thomas Bolden of Eno township spoke against the proposed zoning <br />ordinance. <br />Chairman Smith declared that the time allocated to the opponents <br />had expired, i <br />Chairman Smith recognized the following persons: <br />Al Galver identified himself as a resident of Eno township for nineteen i <br />years and he stated that he felt the enactment of the proposed zoning <br />ordinance was necessary in order to keep the township as a pleasant place <br />to live. ~ <br />Gary F, Sykes identified himself as a resident oP Hillsborough township. <br />DIr, Sykes stated that he felt that all aitizens must accept some regimentation I <br />in order to prevent the environment from being destroyed. <br />S. S, Rhine Sdentified himself as a resident and property owner in Eno <br />township. Dr. khine stated that the idea of voting on the question of <br />zoning was not a good idea, because most advances,which Were made by mankind, <br />had been accomplished by small courageous groups who possessed vision. He <br />stated further that the people at large did not have time to auffiniently <br />study the questions which were presented to them as an elected body. <br />Chairman Smith declared that the time allocated to the proponents had <br />expired. <br />Chairman Smith recognized the following persons: <br />C. H. Hodson, Attorney Prom Chapel Hill, identified himself as representing ~ <br />citizens of Eno township. A:r. Hodson stated that the matter of zoning Eno <br />townshir. should be put to a vote. He stated that we are a state of rural <br />people, by choice, and that we are opposed to control in general and have no <br />desire to be regulated by a zoning ordinance. ~ <br />L. C, Burch identified himself as a resident living in a mobile home <br />park in Eno township. He spoke in opposition to the proposed zoning ordinanne <br />and stated that he moved from Durham County to Grange County in order to <br />escape high taxes and zoning ordinances. <br />Edward Underwood identified himself as the operator of a store in Eno <br />township. Mr. Underwood stated that he op°osed zoning because it was used <br />to oppress the poor. <br />dank Marshall identified himself as a resident of Eno township and he <br />spoke in opposition to the proposed zoning ordinance. He stated that he had <br />lived in Eno township Por twenty years and that he felt the people of the <br />township should work together and bring the matter oP zoning to a vote. <br />
