PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/1~ <br />BUDGET AMENDMENT: (Y/l~ <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Appointment and Orientation Process for Alice Gordon <br />Boards and Commissions TELEPHONE NUMBERS: - - ezt. <br />Hillsborough 732-8181 <br />Chapel -Hill 968-4501 <br />Durham 688-7331 <br />Mebane 227-2031 <br />PURPOSE: To consider amending the policy governing appointments to boards and commissions. <br />BACKGROUND: The Board adopted a policy for appointments to boardslcommissions in 1992, <br />and amended it in 1994. The question has been raised as to whether task forces are included in this <br />stipulation. A proposed amendment to section five of the policy, which addresses this question, is <br />attached and underlined. The amendment would allow citizens serving in two appointed positions to <br />also serve on one short-term task force. A current example is the Master Aging Plan Task Force. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None <br />RECOMMENDATON(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the amendment to <br />the policy governing appointments to boards and commissions. <br />
