7 -E 207 <br />Chairman Smith presented Sherman Shelton and Howard Compton, former <br />members of the County Welfare Board, certificates of appreciation for their <br />service on the County Welfare Board. <br />Chairman Smith announced that because of recent annexation into the <br />Town of Chapel Hill the following persons were no longer eligible to serve <br />as trustees on the Chapel Hill Fire District: E. G. Merritt, J. A. McMahon <br />and Earl E. Walker. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Bennett, seconded by Commissioner Ward, <br />it was moved and unanimously adopted, that the following persons be.named <br />to serve as•trustees on the Chapel Hill Fire District: - <br />Atwood Askew to fill the unexpired term of E. G. Merritt. Said term will <br />expire November 1, 1969. <br />Reid McCracken to fill the unexpired term of J. A. McMahon. Said term <br />will expire November 1, 1970. <br />Clarence Hear to serve as Chairman and fill the unexpired term of Earl <br />E. Walker. Said letter recommended that George Watts Hill and Pearson <br />Stewart be re-appointed as members of this Council at the expiration of their <br />present term. Said terms will expire June 18, 1972. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Bennett, seconded by Commissioner Ward, it was <br />moved and unanimously adopted, that George Watts Hill and Pearson Stewart be <br />re-appointed to the Hospital Planning Council at the expiration of their present <br />term. <br />Chairman Smith read a copy of a letter from the State Department of Social <br />Services advising the Board that Mrs. Vivian Edmonds had been appointed to the <br />County Board of Social Services for a three year term. Said term will expire <br />June 30, 1972. Mrs. Edmonds is a State appointee to this Board. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was <br />adjourned to meet again on Monday, July 14, 1969, at 8:00 o'clock P.M. in the <br />Courtroom of the Courthouse and on Thursday, July 17, 1969, at 8:00 o'clock P.M. <br />in the Commissioners Room of the Courthouse in Hillsborough. <br />Carl M.
