204 MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />June 25, 1969 <br />The Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange, North Carolina, met in <br />adjourned session at the County Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina, in <br />the Courtroom at 8:00 P.M., on Wednesday, June 25, 1969. <br />Members Present, Chairman Carl M. Smith, and Commissioners Harvey D. <br />Bennett, William C. Ray, Henry S. Walker and Ira A. Ward. <br />Members Absent: None <br />Roger Marshall, Chairman of the Orange County Board of Education, Glen <br />Caruthers, Robert Haas and Roland Scott, Members of the Orange County Board of <br />Educations,and G. Paul Carr, Superintendent of Orange County Schools1were present <br />to present to the Board the school budget for the 1969-1970 fiscal year. <br />The Orange County Board of Education and the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />met jointly for the purpose of appointing a member to the A.B.C. Board. R. B. <br />Haas moved that Dr. H. W. Moore be re-appointed to a three year term on the A.B.C. <br />Board. This term is to commence at the expiration of Dr. Moore's current term. <br />Commissioner H. D. Bennett seconded this motion. Chairman Carl Smith called <br />for a vote on said motion and all members present voted in the affirmative. <br />The joint session was then adjourned. <br />The Board of Commissioners reconvened and Chairman Smith reported that <br />due to the recent annexation by the Town of Chapel Hill, George A. Kellenberg, <br />Adger Wilson and Herbert Holland were now ineligible to serve on the Chapel <br />Hill Planning Board. <br />Chairman Smith advised the Board that Charles Bryan was now ineligible <br />to serve on the Chapel Hill Board of Adjustments. <br />Discussion ensued relative to these appointments. The following persons were <br />appointed: <br />Chapel Hill Planning Board <br />1. Wesley Wallace for a five year term commencing July 1, 1969, and <br />terminating June 30, 1974. <br />2. George Spransy appointed to the unexpired term of George A. Kellenberg. <br />The term of George Kellenberg expires July 1, 1973. <br />3. Winfred Carrol appointed to the unexpired term of Adger Wilson. This <br />term expires July 1, 1972. <br />4. Major William Loche appointed to the unexpired term of Herbert Holland. <br />This term expires June 1, 1971. <br />Chapel Hill Board of Adjustments <br />1. James C. Page, Jr, appointed to fill the unexpired term of George Spransy. <br />This term expires June 1, 1972. <br />2. Freddie Merritt appointed to fill the unexpired term of Charles Bryan. <br />This term expires June 1, 1971. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board said meeting was <br />adjourned. <br />Carl M.
