Petition relative to the checking of registered voters against property <br />tax listing. <br />Discussion ensued relative to the request of checking the Chapel Rill <br />registered voter list against the tax listings. The County Administrator was <br />instructed to determine a method of checking said voter registration list against <br />the tax listing scroll and to also determine what cost would be involved in <br />making this survey. <br />Chairman Smith was authorized to-sign the following Aid To The Blind Agenda: <br /> RECID EFF. Sykes 98 - 201 6-69 Co-Insurance ends 6-10-69 <br />Robert Banks Hobby 180 - 184 7-69 Increase in boarding home rates <br />Betty Ann Horne 68 Remains the same <br />Julia Fisher 181 Remains the same <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ray, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, it was <br />moved and unanimously adopted that Harold Williams be re-appointed to the Carrboro <br />Planning Board for a three year term and that Howard Hearn be appointed to fill <br />the unexpired term of Sherwood Ward on the Carrboro Board of Adjustments. <br />Discussion ensued relative to the letter from the State Highway Commission <br />concerning the posting of the speed limit on SR #1777. The clerk was instructed <br />to acknowledge the receipt of said letter and that the Board did concur with the <br />posting of said speed limit signs. <br />The County Attorney advised the Board that J. B. Evans had reouested the <br />payment of $12,000.00 for a thirty foot (301) sewerage right of way across the <br />lands of Mrs. Bertha N..Evans. Discussion ensued relative to said matter. <br />The following resolution was introduced by Commissioner Bennett, seconded by <br />Commissioner Ray, and unanimously passed: <br />BE IT RESOLVED that the County Attorneys, Graham & Cheshire, <br />are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to obtain by condemnation <br />or otherwise a thirty (30) foot right of way and easement for sanitary <br />sewer across the lands of Mrs. Bertha N. Evans, said easement to have a <br />length of approximately 1760.54 feet. <br />The County Administrator presented the annual audit contract and Chairman <br />Smith was authorized to sign same. <br />The County Administrator advised the Board that he had received a letter <br />from Ed Swindell, Manager for Durham County, and that Orange County's portion <br />of cost for the boundary line survey amounted to $$4,917.64. <br />Commissioner Ward stated that he was of the opinion that a reply should be <br />made to the Orange Voters League's letter with reference, especially, in the <br />areas of the County's position and action on items three and six, recreation and <br />public housing, because other items were grievances which should be answered by <br />the agencies administering same. Discussion ensued on this matter and it was <br />agreed that Chairman Smith and Commissioner Ward would compose a letter from the' <br />Orange County Board of Commissioners. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board said meeting was <br />adjourned to meet again on Wednesday, June 11, 1969, at 8:00 P.M. in the Commissioners <br />Room at the Courthouse in Hillsborough. <br />Carl M.
