Final Resolution for Financing of Solid Waste Equipment <br /> The Board adopted a resolution, which is incorporated by reference, required to authorize the <br /> final steps to complete the financing of equipment purchased by the County's Solid Waste <br /> Department. <br /> nn.Reimbursement Resolution for Affordable Housing Bonds <br /> This item was removed and placed at the end of the consent agenda for separate <br /> consideration. <br /> oo.Reimbursement Resolution for Parks and Open Space <br /> This item was removed and placed at the end of the consent agenda for separate <br /> consideration. <br /> pp. Request to Waive Occupational License Tax Penalties, <br /> The Board approved a request from William Wisen, owner of the Best Western Skyland Inn, to <br /> forgive statutory penalties assessed for failure to file Room Occupancy Tax Reports and remit <br /> room occupancy tax collected when due of$300 and return the $2,099.10 to the Revenue <br /> Collector to be held on account to be applied to future property taxes. <br /> VOTE ON CONSENT AGENDA: UNANIMOUS <br /> ITEMS REMOVED FROM CONSENT AGENDA: <br /> c. Orange County Preparedness Month Proclamation <br /> The Board considered approving a proclamation designating September 2008 as <br /> Orange County Preparedness Month and authorize the Chair to sign. <br /> Commissioner Carey said that when things like this are on the consent agenda they are <br /> lost in terms of public attention. He thinks that this is important enough to command the <br /> public's attention. He asked Rosemary Summers to talk about the action plan by the Health <br /> Department. <br /> Rosemary Summers said that this has been a partnership effort with Emergency <br /> Services. The concept is to have community leaders informed about how to put together an <br /> emergency preparedness kit. There will be workshops throughout the month in different <br /> locations, and the schedule is attached. Everyone who comes to the workshops will get a kit to <br /> help prepare for emergencies. Also, there will be a preparedness fair in the Wal-Mart parking <br /> lot. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Carey, seconded by Commissioner Foushee to <br /> approve a proclamation designating September 2008 as Orange County Preparedness Month <br /> and authorize the Chair to sign. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />
