°Staff received a revised site plan on June 19, 2008 showing the two (2) entrances onto Terry
Road
Revised entranceway detail:
Michael Harvey: The proposal is to create a circular drive around what is going to be the
property, the residual acreage from the subdivision and allow for two points of access, ingress
and egress with one way in and one way out. As previously indicated, the applicant informed
staff that they were willing to comply and asked that the Board review the proposed two-
entrance site plan.
Recommendations:
*Receive the Class A SUP Application,
°Conduct the Public Hearing,
°Receive any and all comments on the proposal, and
°Refer the Class A SUP application to the Planning Board for review and comment with a
request that a recommendation be submitted by August 14, 2008.
Commissioner Gordon: If you would please flip back to the site plan. My understanding from
what you said is there are going to be three preschool classrooms and then one for grades 1-3
and one for grades 4-6, but I see six classrooms and not five. I also see two outlying
temporary buildings.
Michael Harvey: I'll let the applicant address the temporary buildings. With respect to the
classrooms, the application indicates there's going to be three buildings reserved for preschool
and then two for the elementary school. I think the last building is proposed for growth, but right
now, they are only proposing to have 120 students.
APPLICANT:
Steve Yuhasz: I represent the Montessori Farm School and I have been sworn. First of all, I
want to thank the Board of Commissioners for scheduling this public hearing on a day when you
have a very extended agenda, and we will try to be as brief as we possibly can. Michael Harvey
did a good job of telling you what all the basic parts of this proposal are. I'm just going to go
through a couple of things that I think we need to specifically talk about. Let me start by
answering Commissioner Gordon's question. Each class will have no more than 20 students in
it. The proposal is to have eventually 80 preschool, 20 elementary, and so we would need four
buildings to house the 80 preschool students. I think the number that Michael showed as far as
counting the number of classrooms was just off. But we would propose that eventually, over
the course of time, we would fill up all six classrooms. The temporary buildings that are shown
are an alternative to immediately building. Right now the school is housed temporarily at the
educational building of the Abundant Life Church in Hillsborough. That's a temporary situation.
What we're hoping to do is, as soon as we get a site plan approved and acquire this property,
to start to move the school to this site. Fund raising activities have begun, but they're not there
yet, and at this point, we're not sure whether we're going to have the funding to complete the
permitted buildings initially or whether we're going to have to start with some temporary
classrooms. That's why we put the temporary classrooms on this site plan, hoping that you will
