7 cV?r 200 <br />The Board suggested to the Town Attorney that they might possibly <br />approve a statutory amendment that would offer extraterritorial jurisdiction <br />ofone mile if the exercise of this extended jurisdiction was made contingent <br />upon the mutual consent of the Board of Commissioners and the Town of Chapel <br />Hill. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was <br />adjourned to meet again on Monday, May 26, 1969. <br />Carl M. Gattis, Acting Clerk <br />MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />May 26, 1969 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in adjourned session in the <br />courtroom of the courthouse in Hillsborough; North Carolina on Monday, May 26, <br />1969, at 8 o'clock P.M. for the purpose of holding the duly advertised public <br />hearing in conjunction with the County Planning Board. <br />Members Present: Chairman Carl M. Smith, and Commissioners Harvey D. Bennett, <br />William C. Ray, Henry S. Walker and Ira A. Ward. <br />Members Absent: None <br />Chairman Smith called the meeting to order and then turned the chair over <br />to Charles Johnston, Chairman of the County Planning Board, who proceeded to <br />conduct the public hearing. For a detailed record of these proceedings see <br />the minute docket of the County Planning Board. <br />Chairman Johnston turned the chair back to Chairman Smith who then declared <br />the public hearing adjourned and then proceeded to reconvene; the Orange County <br />Board of Commissioners for the purpose of conducting other County business. <br />Discussion ensued relative to the following bills: <br />Senate Bill 106 - Real property lien assessment. To provide for the <br />certification of the existence and amounts of <br />assessment liens against real property. <br />Senate Bill 269 - Tax valuation - agricultural land. Relating to the <br />classification, appraisal valuation, assessment and <br />taxation of land actively devoted to agricultural <br />uses. <br />House Bill 1118 - Tax exemption/goods to ship. Relating to the taxable <br />situs of goods held by manufacturers on January first <br />but which have been sold to and are awaiting shipment <br />to out-of-State customers. <br />The clerk to the Board was instructed to advise Senators Claude Currie and <br />Gordon Allen and Representatives Donald M. Stanford and Ike F. Andrews that <br />the Orange County Board of Commissioners were opposed to the enactment of <br />Senate Bill 106 and 269 and House Bill 1118. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was <br />adjourned. <br />Carl M.
