Updated everyone and reminded attendees
that the process has been adopted by the County Commissioners. The first of the eight
elements, The County Profile Element, is completed. Tonight's meeting is to provide a
status report so the public understands the process; has an opportunity for input, and allows
the county to collect input to be used by advisory boards, staff, and the consultant as the plan
is developed. Want to make sure everyone has a chance to speak.
Roger Waldon of Clarion Associates has been contracted by the County to help synthesize
the plan. The county has been working on the Comprehensive Plan by updating the 1981
Plan. This is the first time to look at the whole package and refresh data, goals, and
objectives as a county.. Clarion works with staff, the advisory boards and citizens to
complete the plan. The County Commissioners have adopted the eight guiding principals
and have embraced a set of goals. However, nothing. at this point is concrete. The plan
schedule is fixed, but everything else can change. Clarion is working towards putting the
pieces already gathered together in a common format and framework. At this stage the focus
is trying to create objectives to accomplish the goals and principals. The target is to be on
the County Commissioner's agenda late spring for public comment on the draft
1 of 4
