2 <br />The August 25t" public hearing was held open to provide additional time for the municipalities of <br />Carrboro, Chapel Hill, Durham,.. Hillsborough, and Mebane to submit courtesy review comments. <br />Comments have been received from Chapel Hill and Durham, which are attached. Staff does <br />not expect any additional courtesy .review comments at this stage but anticipates significantly <br />more during subsequent Plan implementation phases. <br />General Contents of Comprehensive Plan <br />The Draft Comprehensive Plan includes the following Elements: <br />® County Profile (Data) <br />® Economic Development <br />® Housing <br />® Land Use <br />® Natural and Cultural Systems <br />® Parks and Recreation <br />® Services (Utilities) and Community <br />Facilities <br />® Transportation <br />Recommendations are. also provided in the draft Comprehensive Flan that addresses the <br />administration, implementation, and monitoring of the Plan that will need to take place following <br />its adoption. <br />There are no major changes to existing/current policy directions incorporated into the draft Plan. <br />Furthermore, the draft plan does.. not include specific implementation recommendations. Work <br />on those will start once this. Plan, (with its framework of goals, objectives, and linkages) is <br />,..adopted... This Plan update. effort is designed. to establish a common data source, to pull <br />together existing ideas and information that.. heretofore :have been scattered among a series of <br />topic-specific plans and documents, and to set the stage for subsequent community discussions <br />about implementation strategies. <br />Public Access to Materials <br />All key documents that have been produced during the planning process have been posted on <br />the County's website. Following is the address to the .Comprehensive Plan ,Update Webpage: . <br />www.co.orange. nc. us!planning/compre_cpupdate.asp. <br />PLANNING BOAa2D: <br />Planning Board's .Statement for the Public Record -Review of Public Hearing Comments on <br />the Draft Comprehensive Plan <br />Plannin Board members made the followin statement at the Se <br />g 9 ptember 10t" Special Planning <br />Board Meeting. <br />"At the August 25, 2008 Public Hearing on .the draft Comprehensive Plan, the ..Planning <br />Board learned that there was some confusion in the community that the Planning Board may <br />not ,have .received and reviewed all of the- public ..comments submitted on the draft <br />Comprehensive Plan.. For the purpose of the. public record,: let it be made clear that `the <br />Planning Board has received. all .public. comments that .have been submitted on the draft <br />Plan and all comments have received thorough and equal consideration by the Board during <br />its review process. The Planning Board attended public hearings in May and August to hear <br />..public. comments, reviewed all written public comments submitted, and held meetings on <br />July 9t", August. 6t", September 3~tl, and September 10t" to discuss comments and develop <br />.proposed revisions for further consideration by the Board of County Commissioners." <br />
