187
Adam,
Dr. Pedersen asked me to review the sections of the Orange County Comprehensive Plan that relate to the Ghapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools
and to communicate any revisions to you.
First, it looks like much of the information on p.221 related to the district came from an outdated section of our website. I have attached the
revision to that page to provide you with a more current snapshot of our performance.
In the last paragraph on p. 221, you cite our strategic plan. We have a new one that covers 2006-2013. That seems more relevant to this
future-looking document. The new mission statement reads: "Empower all students to acquire the knowledge, skills and insights necessary to
live rewarding, productive lives, prepared to contribute positively to the global community:' If you'd like to reference the new plan in any other
way; here's a link to it:
htt /Iwww2 chccs k12 nc us/education/sctemo/8f706c3db56d39f2ba65bd1d5281b72f/121372648612008 201.3 CHCCS Strategic Plan.pdf.
I'd also review the language in that paragraph so that the transition from strategic plan to capital improvement plan is clear. Much of what is in
the capital. improvement plan seems to be attributed to the strategic plan, for example.
Hope that helps,
Stephanie
Stephanie Knott
Assistant to the Superintendent for Community Relations
Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools
Lincoln Center
750 S.
