Unfortunately I was unable to attend the meeting
last night. Regardless, here are my
comments:
I, Helena Safron, request that the Orange County Comprehensive Plan include specific plans
and recommendations for solutions to the issues raised by the Rogers-Eubanks Neighborhood
Association (RENA) and the Coalition to End Environmental Racism (CEER). These issues
include:
1) Ending the 35 year burden of hosting of solid waste facilities by
the Rogers-Eubanks neighborhood;
2) Providing funding for provision of public, regulated drinking water
and sewer service to all households in the Rogers-Eubanks
neighborhood;
3) Providing funding for other basic municipal services to residents
of the Rogers-Eubanks neighborhood including, but not limited to paved
roads, paved sidewalks, stormwater drains, street lights, public bus
service (including covered bus stops), emergency protection services
(i.e., fire, police protection, ambulatory and rescue squad).
Sincerely,
Helena Safron
UNC-Chapel Hill Graduate Student
M.A. Folklore Curriculum
