We hope that this process will not only be transparent
but lead to all-encompassing frameworks, protections and service products for those
who are disenfranchised and impoverished in Orange County. The socio/economic
values we subscribe to as a nonprofit organization include the county's means to
promote living wages, quality health care; affordable housing, social equity, .
affordable childcare, inciusionary.zoning, community education, rural.waterand
wastewater options, mental health services -all necessary for a sustainable
community.
IFC representatives have been actively involved with the Orange County
Comprehensive Plan Coalition, an impressive group of diverse partners who
want to learn more about the county's planning process, wrestle with its various
intricacies and team about coilaborative.ways to provide greater input for many
of the improvements that are needed. Our Board of Directors officially endorsed
the coalition's vision statement at its August 75, 2007 meeting.
The IFC continues to be an the cutting edge of addressing multifaceted
socio/economic disparities and service gaps in Orange County, Joining a wider
federation of community partners has helped.us to (earn about the planning process,
find some common ground with a diverse group of organizations and learn how to
impact community policies for the betterment of those we represent. Coalition
discussions have been valuable for us. Different organizafional values and points of
view have been shared and well received. Our understanding and appreciation of the
county's pianntng process has improved with our association and we are very
interested in educating others about how a new Comprehensive Plan will have a
tremendous impact on ail of us who live and work in Orange County. Do not hesitate
to contact me about IFC's participation or any of these matters.
Si~ncperely,
lt.--
Chris Moran, Executive Director
Inter-Faith CGUncil for Social Service
Giving help and hope to those in need
110 w.
