The successful candidate should possess a J.D. or LLB degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, and have ten years experience in the practice of law, including substantial experience in local government law. Knowledge of land use and environmental- law is a requirement. Evidence of continued professional development through active participation and leadership roles in professional organizations and activities is also a plus. The successful candidate must be familiar with and understand the legal issues relating to North Carolina land use laws. An understanding of employment and labor laws, actual practice of local government law in North Carolina, and experience in a community that emphasizes transparent and involved government is a plus. The ideal candidate has knowledge of North Carolina land development law, water, annexation, eminent domain/condemnationLconservation easement law; transportation/transit issues; personnel,~onstruction, housing, planning, elections------------- neletea: personal injury, and constitutional requirements.
