Benefits Costs from FY 04-05 to present <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Michael McGinnis, HR Director, 245-2552 <br />Diane Shepherd, Benefits Manager, 245-2558 <br />PURPOSE: To approve the County Manager's 2009 employee dental insurance plan, flexible <br />compensation program, employee assistance program, and health insurance plan <br />recommendations. <br />BACKGROUND: The County provides employees with a comprehensive compensation plan. <br />This plan includes benefits that are provided at no cost to the employee or have a considerable <br />County contribution. These benefits enable employees to care for their health and financial <br />wellness. Maintaining and improving these benefits when possible helps the County hire and <br />retain the best employees. <br />Annually staff reviews and reviseThhs recommendat onr shfor rlenewaleand (changes to dental <br />recommendation to the BOCC. <br />insurance, flexible compensation, employee assistance program and health insurance that will <br />become effective January 1, 2009. <br />Discussions regarding benefits have been held with the Employee Relations Consortium (ERC), <br />the ERC Pay & Benefits Committee and department directors. Each group provided input to the <br />Human Resources Department related to compensation and benefits. An update of employee <br />benefits was provided and discussions were held with the Commissioners at the September 22, <br />2008 work session. <br />
