ATTACHMENT THREE (3) :Memo from Mike Tapp concerning fire lane <br />construction standards <br />Michael Harvey <br />From: Mike Tapp . <br />Sent: Wednesday, September 24, 2008 4:55 PM <br />To: Michael Harvey <br />Cc: Andy Gates <br />Subject: Fire apparatus access road far the Montessori School Faclitiy, 711 Terry Road <br />37 <br />Michael, <br />Fire lanes for access to the proposed Montessori School at 711 Terry Raad must be installed and <br />maintained in accordance with the provisions of the North Catalina Fire Prevention Code. The following' <br />dimensions and specifications are defined in Section 503 of the Fire Code.: <br />1. Approved fire apparatus access roads shall be provided for every facility, building or portion of a <br />building hereafter constructed or moved into or within the jurisdiction. Fire apparatus roadways <br />shall extend to within 150 feet of all portions of the facility and all <br />2. Fire apparatus roadways shall have an unobstructed width of not less than 20 feet and an <br />unobstructed vertical clearance not less than 13 feet 6 inches. <br />3. Fire apparatus access roads shall be designed and maintained to support the imposed loads of fire <br />apparatus and shall be surfaced so as to provide all weather driving capabilities. <br />4. Approved signs shall be provided for access roads to identify such roads or prohibit the obstruction <br />therof. Fire apparatus roads shall nofi be obstructed in any manner, including the parking of vehicles. <br />Minimum widths (20 feet) and clearances (13 feet 6 inches) shall be maintained at all times. <br />Water supplies for fire protection must be designed and submitted for approval by the Fire Marshal's <br />Office and the Caldwell Fire Department.
