7 196 <br />(3) require the re-indexing of such statements filed during the <br />period.begianing July 1, 1967 and ending July 1, 1969, and, <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is in agreement with the <br />Registers of Deeds in taking the position that such a procedure would be an <br />unnecessary duplication of work on the part of the staff of the Registers of <br />Deeds and that the costs to the County in instituting such a program would <br />not be justified, <br />NOW THEREFORE, the Board of Commissioners goes on record in opposition <br />to these parts of SB 389 and requests the General Assembly to adopt the amend- <br />ments proposed by the North Carolina Association of Registers of Deeds. <br />This 5th day of May, 1969. <br />/a/ Carl M. Discussion <br />ensued relative to the proposed estimate. <br />Commissioner Ray moved that the Board acknowledge the receipt of the tentative <br />estimated public assistance budget as prepared by the State Department of Public <br />Welfare. Discussion ensued and Commissioner Ray withdrew his motion. <br />Commissioner Ward moved that the wording on the prepared budget form be <br />changed from "studied and accepted" to studied and acknowledged and that said. <br />tentative estimates for the public assistance program be signed by Chairman Smith. <br />Commissioner Walker seconded the motion. Chairman Smith called for a vote and same <br />was unanimously adopted. <br />Clarence Jones, Chairman Orange County Human Relations Council, stated that <br />the first public meeting of the council had been scheduled for Monday, May 12, 1969, <br />with Dr. James Taylor being the guest speaker. He invited the members of the <br />Board of Commissioners to attend this meeting and requested that Chairman Smith <br />speak at the beginning of the program. Mr. Jones stated that a public address <br />system would be needed and requested that the County pay for the securing of this <br />eouipment. Chairman Smith instructed the County Administrator to work with Mr. <br />Jones on the installation of a public address system for the May 12th meeting. <br />Chairman Smith read a letter from the North Carolina Governors Coordinating f <br />Council on Aging which requested the Board to proclaim the month of May as Senior <br />Citizens Month in North Carolina. The clerk was instructed to post the proclamation <br />from the Governor on the bulletin board of the courthouse.
