VII. Dissemination of Equal Employment Opportunity Policy <br />and Affirmative Action Plan ~ <br />A. General <br />The Aff rmative Action Plan for Orange County is a public document. Copies are <br />kept on file in the Personnel Department and Orange County Library. These are <br />available for review by any interested person, upon request. <br />Orange County disseminates its equal opportunity policy and Affirmative Action Plan <br />both internally (employees, supervisors and department heads) and externally <br />(citizens and others). <br />B. Internal <br />Personnel provides each department head and principal supervisory personnel with. <br />copies of this Plan and any periodic revisions. Personnel also provides guidance and <br />periodic training for supervisors to keep them abreast of equal employment <br />opportunity law, applicable state and federal regulations and Orange County <br />personnel policy. <br />The department head is responsible for communicating the policy and plan to <br />employees in the department. In addition, employees are informed of Orange <br />County's Equal Employment Opportunity policy and Affirmative Action Plan through <br />such means as: <br />- Periodic publication to employees through memoranda, articles in the County's <br />employee newsletter and other means. <br />- Federal Equal Employment Opportunity posters in County buildings. <br />- Policy inclusion in the Orange County Personnel Ordinance. <br />- Presentation and discussion of the program as part of the new employee orientation <br />program. <br />- Personnel Department listings of promotional opportunities include phrase "Equal <br />Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer." <br />- When pictures are used, showing both minority and non-minority persons and both <br />women and men. <br />- Text of all Orange County documents and publications uses gender neutral <br />language. <br />-14- <br />
