Employee Relations <br />Employees have the opportunity to meet confidentially with the Employee Relations <br />Officer to discuss any work-related problem. <br />If there is no resolution to the problem, the employee may access the Orange County <br />Grievance Procedure. A copy of the grievance.procedure is provided to each new <br />employee during the New Employee Orientation Program and periodically is <br />explained to all employees through the employee newsletter or other means. It also <br />is made available to an employee at his or her request. <br />F. Training and Employee Development <br />Each new employee is required to attend the New Employee Orientation Program <br />which includes an explanation of key personnel policies such as those covering equal <br />opportunity, sexual harassment and the grievance procedure. <br />The Personnel Department conducts in-house training programs which are offered to <br />all County employees. All employees are encouraged to participate and most training <br />programs are considered as hours worked. The supervisor is responsible for review <br />and approval of the employee's training request. <br />'The training programs are reviewed periodically for possible modifications or <br />expansions to better achieve the purpose of equal employment opportunity. <br />G. Performance Evaluation <br />Orange County maintains a performance evaluation program called Work Planning <br />and Performance Review (WPPR) which applies to all permanent employees. This <br />program provides for a: <br />- Work Plan for each permanent employee, <br />- Performance review at least annually and <br />- Record of each work plan and performance review. <br />Performance evaluation decisions are based onjob-related criteria. <br />-12- <br />
