(Y/1~ <br />BUDGET AMENDMENT: (Y/1~ <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Contract Amendment Albert Kittrell <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: - -ext. <br />Hillsborough 732-8181 <br />Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br />Durham 688-7331 <br />Mebane 227-2031 <br />PURPOSE: To consider approving a contract amendment to extend the period of time for <br />expending State Grant Funds Skills Development Center. <br />BACKGROUND: On October 20, 1998 the Board approved aOne-Stop Career Center <br />Implementation Funds Contract Agreement which provided $68,559 of state funds for the Skills <br />Development Center. The contract period was September 30, 1998 to September 30, 1999. The <br />County has approximately $19,383 remaining. in the grant that must be expended. The State has <br />proposed amending the original contract by extending the time for the expenditure of funds through. <br />December 30, 1999. Although the $19,383 remains in the state grant funds account, the County has <br />expended most of the remaining funds to equip-the Skills Development Center Resource Room with <br />books, software, computer equipment, outreach materials for local employers and signage <br />throughout the building. Expenditures for the Skills Development Center were incurred by County <br />funds and then reimbursed by state grant funds. The extended period would allow County staff to <br />ensure all reimbursements are properly coded in accordance with state guidelines. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The Skills Development Center 1999-2000 Budget will be increased by <br />$19, 383. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the One-Stop <br />Career Center Implementation Funds Contract Amendment and authorize the Chair to sign. <br />
