`~["~ <br />amendment would not solve the problem of abuse and neglect, but would create new <br />problems that would further complicate the job of Animal Control. <br />Ellen Whitaker is a volunteer with the Coalition to Unchain Dogs. She made <br />reference to the comments about this amendment being an infringement on rights and <br />said that it seems like a lot of times in the society, when we move towards justice, <br />always the people that are oppressors feel that their rights are being trampled. This <br />does not mean that it is not right to pass the laws. <br />Beth Oliver is opposed to the tethering ordinance. She said that she has animals <br />that are tethered during the day, and she lets them run free when she gets home. She <br />said that she tethers the dogs for their protection. She said that she loves and protects <br />her animals. <br />Chair Jacobs said that the Board of County Commissioners does take this issue <br />seriously and this item will be brought back in September. He said that all will be notified <br />of the next meeting. <br />32 <br />
