BOOK 7 RACE 151 <br />The Orange-Alamance Water System, Inc. agrees that when it is <br />necessary for water to be released from Lake Orange to supplement <br />the stream flow, the Orange-Alamance Water System, Inc. will then <br />start buying water from Graham in an amount equal to what they are <br />selling in Alamance County and will continue to buy said water <br />until the natural stream flow is sufficient to refill the Hillsborough <br />and Orange-Alamance Water System, Inc. reservoirs. <br />The above agreement was authorized by the Board of Directors of <br />the Orange-Alamance Water System, Inc. <br />Sincerely, <br />ORANGE-ALAMANCE WATER SYSTEM, INC. <br />(CORPORATE SEAL) /s/ J. Mace <br />Assistant Secretary" <br />A letter from the North Carolina Board of Water and Air Resources relative <br />to the reclassification of Haw Creek from its Class D status to a Class A-2 <br />status was read by Mr. Crumpler. The letter stated that all matters concerning <br />a public hearing on the question of reclassification of Raw Creek had been <br />cleared by the North Carolina Board of Water and Air Resources and that a <br />public hearing on said reclassification would be conducted before Christmas. <br />Commissioner Smith introduced the following resolution: <br />Whereas, the 1968 drought has emphasized the need for water for many <br />citizens of Orange County and <br />Whereas, additional reservoirs and treatment plants will be needed to <br />fill this need and other anticipated needs such as municipal and industrial <br />expansion and <br />Whereas, Orange-Alamance Water System, Inc, plans to expand deep into the <br />Haw River watershed and <br />Whereas, Orange County's Board of Commissioners feels that the Eno River <br />cannot provide water beyond its watershed and <br />Whereas, Orange-Alamance Water System, Inc, has made arrangements to <br />tie to the Graham Water System and has agreed by action of their Board on <br />November 11 that when it is necessary for water to be released from Lake <br />Orange tc supplement the stream flow that they, at that time, will start <br />buying water from the Town of Graham equal to the amount that they are selling <br />in Alamance County and will continue to buy said water until the natural stream <br />flow is sufficient to fill the Orange-Alamance and Hillsborough reservoirs. <br />Whereas, Orange-Alamance Water System, Inc, has bought or acquired options <br />to buy a reservoir site on Haw Creek and is working toward having Haw Creek <br />reclassified and <br />Whereas, Orange-Alamance Water System, Inc, by unanimous vote of its <br />Directors on September 5th and by letter of September 6th to the Orange <br />County Board of Commissioners has agreed: <br />1. That the next application they will make to the Farmerts Home <br />Administration or other agencies for either loan or grant will contain a <br />request for funds to build the reservoir on Haw Creek, together with tank and <br />filter system and such lateral lines as will be necessary to serve said <br />system and <br />2. That before making any further expansion, other than those now <br />requested, Orange-Alamance Water System, Inc. will make application for funds <br />with which to start a sewerage system in congested areas such as Efland.
