<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Ray, it was moved <br />and unanimously adopted, that the cleric write John Morrissey requesting that the <br />Orange County Board of Commissioners be kept informed as to the investigation <br />being conducted by the Commissioners Association staff in the area of the usurping <br />of the authority of County Commissioners with regard to the problems being <br />encountered by the Caldwell County Board of Commissioners. <br />Chairman Bennett announced that George T. High of 719 Caswell Road, Chapel <br />Hill, North Carolina be appointed as one of Orange County's representatives <br />on the Citizens For Airport Planning Committee. <br />Commissioner Smith requested that the letter from James W. Kernodle addressed <br />to the Board of Education School Superintendent, principals and teachers be <br />acknowledged. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Ray, it was moved <br />and unanimously adopted, that the clerk request the Rasearch Triangle Commission <br />to suggest and/or recommend the top three priority reservoir sites situated in <br />Orange County, in order that sufficient data might be made available in looking <br />towards the securing of Federal Grants or towards the issuance of bonds for reservoir <br />purp0Sa s. <br />The following road petitions were presented and the clerk was reeuested to <br />forward said petitions to the State Highway Commission: SR 1955 and dR 1307. <br />The following resolution was introduced by Commissioner. Smith, seconded by <br />Commissioner Walker, and unanimously passed: <br />BE IT RESOLVED that the County Attorneys, Graham & Cheshire, are <br />hereby authorized, empowered and directed to obtain by condemnation or <br />otherwise a thirty (30) foot right of way and easement for sanitary <br />sewer across the lands of W. M. Bright and wife, Margaret Bright, and <br />across the lands of J. B. Austin and wife, along the common boundary of <br />the said properties leading from State Road No. 1302 to the Apparel, <br />Inc. property, said easement to extend fifteen (15) feet in width upon <br />the property of each property owner and for a length of approximately <br />325.6 feet, as shown by plat drawn by Alley, Williams, Carmen & Ring, <br />Inc., dated September 25, 1968. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board said meeting was <br />adjourned to meet again on October 10, 1968 at the Courthouse in Hillsborough, <br />N. C. in joint session with the Orange County Planning Board and on November 6, <br />1968 for a nublie hearing. <br />Harvey D. Bennett, Chairman <br />Betty June Hayes, Clerk <br />MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />October 10, 1968 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in joint session with <br />the Orange County Planning Board on Thursday, October 10, 1968 in the Court- <br />room of the Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina at 7:30 P.M. <br />Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners William C. <br />Ray, Carl M. Smith, Henry S. Walker and Ira A. Ward. <br />Members Absent: None <br />This meeting was held for the purpose of conducting a public hearing on the <br />question of rezoning from residential to mobile home park of two tracts of land <br />belonging to Paul Blair and Brack Pearson located in Chapel Hill Township. No <br />action was taken.
