TT also hosts a website for Share the <br />12 Ride NC, a statewide ride share matching service for both local and <br />13 inter-county trips. <br />14 <br />1s Orange County has an active bicycling community that uses Orange <br />16 county roads for recreational riding, competitive training, and <br />17 commuting. Orange County's Bicycle Transportation Plan identifies <br />1 s major routes for improvements to facilitate bicycle commutes. The <br />19 Bicycle Transportation Plan is included in the regional DCHC Long <br />20 Range Transportation Plan. Although there are currently no bicycle <br />21 lanes on Orange County roads outside municipalities, Orange County <br />22 has been able to obtain modest improvements for bicycles, such as <br />23 two-foot paved shoulders on secondary roads, through NCDOT <br />24 programs for resurfacing roads and spot safety projects. A State <br />2s Transportation Improvement Program project that will identify popular <br />26 cycling routes on an Orange County Bike Map is underway, and <br />27 should be completed by the end of 2008. NCDOT will install numbered <br />2s bike route signs as part of the overall development of the county bike <br />29 route system. <br />30 <br />31 There are no pedestrian trails outside of parks and greenways. <br />32 However, several plans outline a connected trail system throughout <br />33 the County through parks and environmentally sensitive areas along <br />34 floodplains from Chapel Hill Road in Durham. <br />3s <br />36 Amtrak passenger service traverses central Orange County through <br />3~ the Town of Hillsborough, but currently does not stop in Orange <br />3s County. There is widespread community support for a passenger <br />39 train stop in Orange County.
