TRANSPORTATION
The County is actively encouraging
alternative modes of transportation and ride-
sharing, expanding possibilities for mobility
by means other than single-occupant
automobiles. Examples of alternative modes
of transportation include, but are not limited
to:
• Interconnected pedestrian and bicycle
trails;
• Transit lanes along major
thoroughfares; and
• Considering the development of
park-and-ride lots that would
encourage use of public
transportation to travel to and from
Page 9
1.3.7. TRANSPORTATION
[The discussion of sustainability in
transportation options is inadequate so long
as density is left out of the equation. At
minimum, state what professional consensus
is about the minimum housing and other
densities necessary to support public
transportation.)
The reduction of carbon emissions is an
inescapable imperative and the County must
actively encourage the transition from
automobile dependence to alternative modes
of transportation and ride-sharing;
.
