National Family Caregiver Support Program -receipt of an additional $25,672 in <br />National Family Caregiver Support funds. These funds will cover in-home respite <br />services and support a 5-hour per week, group respite program. <br />Manley Estates -receipt of contract revenues totaling $7,200 to cover the cost of <br />providing social work services for the residents of the First Baptist and Manley <br />Estates senior housing complex in Chapel Hill. <br />This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these funds for the above-mentioned <br />programs. (See Attachment 1, column #6) <br />Soil and Water <br />7. The North Carolina Division of Soil and Water Conservation has allocated additional <br />funding to the Soil and Water Department totaling $2,000. These funds will offset <br />personnel costs for the department. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of <br />these funds for the above-mentioned purpose. (See Attachment 1, column #7) <br />Solid Waste Enterprise Fund <br />8. At its June 24, 2008 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners awarded a bid for the <br />construction of a leachate sewer line from Mixed Solid Wastes (MSW) Landfill on <br />Eubanks road to the existing sewer line on Mill House Road. However, construction <br />timetables were such that the work did not actually begin until after the beginning of the <br />current fiscal year. This budget amendment appropriates Solid Waste reserve funds <br />totaling $284,000 for the Board. approved purposes to cover the costs associated with <br />this sewer construction work. (See Attachment 1, column #8) <br />Human Rights and Relations <br />9. HUD grant funded portions of the Human Rights and Relations budget are currently <br />budgeted in the General Fund. However, in order to comply with Federal accounting <br />standards, the County must account for these monies in a separate grant project <br />ordinance. This budget amendment creates a new Human Rights and Relations HUD <br />Grant Project Ordinance and transfers the currently budgeted grant funds of $245,477 <br />from the General Fund into the county's grant fund. (See Attachment 1, column #9 and <br />Attachment 5, Human Rights and Relations HUD Grant Project Ordinance). <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Financial impacts are included in the background information above. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board of County Commissioners <br />approve the budget, capital and grant project ordinance amendments for fiscal year 2008-09. <br />
