Giiufi rALt AU4 <br />MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />July 30, 1968 <br />The Board of Commissioners of Orange County met in adjourned session on <br />July 30, 1968 at 8:00 P.M, in the Courtroom at the Courthouse in Hillsborough, <br />North Carolina. <br />Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners William C. <br />Ray, Henry S. Walker, Carl M. Smith and Ira A. Ward. <br />Members Absent: None <br />June A. Crumpler, Wiley Perry and other representatives of the Orange- <br />Alamanoe rater System, Inc., Mr. Clem Moseley and Lawrence Alley were present. <br />Mr. Crumpler, spokesman for the group, presented the plans of the orange <br />Alamanoe Water System, Inc. for the expansion of water services. He stated <br />that an application to the Federal Housing Administration had been made for <br />a grant of $950,000, but that said grant would not be made unless the approval <br />was secured from both boards of County Commissioners in which the Orange-Alamanoe <br />Water Systems, Inc. would operate. <br />Clem Moseley, Executive Vice President of the Burlington-Alamanoe Chamber <br />of Commerce commented on the mutual problems shared by Orange and Alamanoe <br />Counties and stated that in order to plan for the proposed industrial growth <br />the counties must cooperate in this joint venture. <br />Discussion ensued on the request for the approval of the proposed plans for <br />expansion of the Orange-Alamance Water Systems, Inc. Chairman Bennett <br />advised the representatives that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />would take said request under advisement. <br />There being no further business to come before the meeting said meeting <br />was adjourned to the public hearing which was being held in the courtroom <br />at 9:00 P.M. <br />Harvey D. Ward and Charlie Johnston, Chairman <br />of the Orange County Planning Board, Bob Strayhorn, Preston Hogan and Giovanni <br />Micol. Dr. Clarence Sock-well was absent. <br />Harvey Bennett, Chairman of the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />announced that this was the time and place for the duly publicized public <br />hearing of the Orange County Planning Board. <br />Chairman Harvey Bennett called the meeting to order and them turned the <br />chair over to Charlie Johnston, Chairman of the Orange County Planning Board. <br />The following agenda was presented to the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />and orange County Planning Board: <br />1. Rezoning request by Mr. Jack W. Maultsby <br />(a.) Mr. Maultsby is requesting that a portion of his property, located <br />approximately one-quarter mile west of N. C. Hwy. 86 adjacent to University <br />Branch Railroad, be rezoned from a Residential District to a General <br />Commercial District, <br />2. Amendment to Section 6.2.2.2 (3) of zoning ordinance. <br />(a) Amend to read: That hard rock be at least four (4) feet below the <br />bottom of the filter trenches in the absorption area.
