Box 885 <br />Troy, NC 27828 <br />Dear Mr. Wood, <br />Sheriff <br />We reviewed your recommendations and they have been addressed; <br />The exit doors in both recreation areas have been being keyed on both sides per l0A NCAC 14J. 1503 <br />Additionally in the cell blocks inmates are being closely checked to insure they do not lie on the floor and <br />block doors or hang clothing on inner doors. <br />Our emergency generator is put through a 30 minute test and run every Wednesday. Our generator is <br />serviced monthly by county maintenance. <br />Our detention officers conduct in service training monthly with the Scott air - packs. <br />Our hood in the kitchen is cleaned every 6 months by our hood service vendor. <br />Our boilers have -been inspected -our next inspection is due 3/31/2009. Copies of inspections attached: -- -- - -- <br />In- service is at this time is being conducted "on visual inspections" as rounds are made. We require 15 <br />minute checks which have been found at times to be done hurriedly. This will be closely monitored. <br />The kitchen staff has an assigned radio as well as an intercom system if they need help in case of a fire in <br />the kitchen. Our control room staff constantly views the kitchen as the video monitors check the kitchen <br />every 15 seconds. <br />Main control room door is now on electric release to enter and exit. Our maintenance staff is also <br />increasing the water pressure for the cell commodes.
