<br />1. To provide water and sewer service to the Melville Furniture Company's
<br />proposed plant on South Center Street:
<br />(a) With the water and sewer lines being
<br />installed east of Piedmont Steel L Tube Co. $48,100.00
<br />OR
<br />(b) With the sewer line being installed east of
<br />Piedmont Steel & Tube Co. and the water line
<br />being installed in South Center Street $69,200.00
<br />2. To provide water and sewer service to an industrial
<br />site south of S.R. ;1301 and taest of Mattress
<br />Factory Road $44,300.00
<br />I will be glad to meet with you and the Board of Commissioners at their
<br />convenience to go over these projects and to answer any questions they might have.
<br />One brief note of oaution about the unit price on the 12" water main.
<br />You will recall that Iir. Latham, of Dixie Construction Company, told me that he
<br />would be glad to have this :,cork added to his contract, but he would expect to be
<br />reimbursed for any increase in the pipe price. Every effort will be made by us
<br />to 1[eep the pine manufacturer from increasing the price. We believe that we can
<br />insist on them not.raising the price, especially if the water line is installed
<br />east of Piedmont Steel & Tube Co., as this was part of the original project."
<br />Discussion ensued relative to the proposed installation for the industrial
<br />park and matters relative to the proposed expansion of the Orange Alamance Water -
<br />Systems, Inc. -?
<br />Lloyd Osterman, District Director of the Hyconeechee Library, presented the
<br />1968-1969 Library budget request.
<br />Commissioner Ward introducted the following resolution which was read:
<br />RESOLUTION COUCERNING A RESOLUTION OF THE
<br />NORTH CAROLINA STATE BOARD OF HEALTH CREAT-
<br />ING THE DOGWOOD ACRES SANITARY DISTRICT, IN
<br />ORA1-TG2 COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA, AND APPOINTING
<br />A SANITARY DISTRICT BOARD FOR SAID DISTRICT
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange:
<br />Section 1. That the Board of Commissioners has determined and does
<br />hereby find and declare:
<br />(a) That there has been received from the North Carolina State Board of Health
<br />a certified copy of a resolution passed by said Board on May 15, 1968, creating the
<br />Dogwood Acres Sanitary District, in Orange County, North Carolina, which resolution
<br />is as follows:
<br />(b) That it has become the duty of this Board to appoint a Sanitary District
<br />Board of three members, residents within the District, which shall thereafter be
<br />the governing body of said District.
<br />Section 2. George'Spraasy, Boyd Newnam, and Willis Knight, who are residents
<br />within said District, are hereby appointed members of the Sanitary District Board
<br />of Dogwood Acres Sanitary District, in Orange County, North Carolina, with all the
<br />powers conferred upon such Board by Chanter 130, Article 12, General Statutes of
<br />North Carolina, until their successors are duly elected and qualified.
<br />Coumtissioner Ward moved the passage of the foregoing resolution entitled:
<br />"RESOLUTION CONCERNING A RESOLUTION OF THE, NORTH CAROLINA STATE BOARD OF I ALTH
<br />CREATING THE DOGWOOD SANITARY DISTRICT, IN ORANGE COLITY, NORTH CAROLINA AND
<br />APPOINTING A SANITARY DISTRICT BOARD FOR SAID DISTRICT", and Commissioner Smith
<br />seconded the motion, and the resolutior_ was passed by the following vote:
<br />Ayes: Commissioners Harvey D. Bennett, William C. Ray, Carl K. Smith,
<br />Henry S. Walker and Ira A. :lard.
