The Orange County Commission for Women, the Women's Center, <br />the Rape Crisis Center and the Orange County Family Violence Prevention Center are <br />sponsoring the "March for Justice" candlelight vigil on October 30"' at 6:00 p.m. The march will <br />begin at the Women's Center in Chapel Hill and end at the post office. Other activities include a <br />"Purple Ribbon" Campaign, a information booth at the State Fair, a Billboard Campaign by the <br />NC Coalition Against Domestic Violence and intense lobbying by local women's organizations <br />to ask that Congress reauthorize the 1990 Violence Against Women Act. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board adopt the Proclamation <br />and authorize the.Chair to sign the Proclamation. <br />
