A special election is hereby called to be held on Tuesday, June 18, 1968, <br />between 6:30 A. M. and 6:30 P. M., Eastern Daylight Saving Time, within the South Orange <br />Fire District, at which there shall be submitted to the qualified voters in said District, <br />the following question: <br />Shall a special tax on sll taxable property in South Oran" Fire District <br />of not exceeding ten cents on the one hundred dollar valuation of property, <br />for the purpose of providing fire protection in said district, be levied therein? <br />Section 2. For said special election there shall be a new registration of the <br />oualified voters residing in said South Orange Fire District and a new registration book <br />shall be open for the registration of the voters therein from 9:00 o'clock A.M. until <br />6:00 o'clock P.M. on each day, beginning May 14, 1968, and closing Tuesday, June 4, 1968. <br />On each Tuesday during such registration period such books shall be open at the polling <br />place hereinafter designated. Tuesday, June 11, 1968, shall be Challenge Day. <br />Section 3. The Clerk of the Board of Commissioners shall cause a notice to be <br />published in The Chapel Hill weekly at least thirty days before the election and there- <br />after twice between the election at intervals of at least one week between publications, <br />reading substantially as follows: <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION AND NEW REGISTRATION <br />IN THE SOUTH ORANGE FIRE DISTRICT <br />A special election will be held throughout the South Orange Fire District between <br />6:30 oleloek A.M. and 6:30 o'clock P. M., Eastern Daylight Saving Time, on Tuesday, June <br />18, 19682 at which there will be submitted to the qualified voters of said district the <br />following ouestion: <br />Shall a special tax on all taxable property in the South Orange Fire <br />District, of not exceeding ten cents of the one hundred dollar valuation <br />of property, for the purpose of providing fire protection in said district, <br />be levied therein? <br />The ouestion herein above set forth contains a statement of the nuroose of said <br />election and if a majority of the oualified voters voting at said election vote in <br />favor of levying and collecting a tax in said district for fire protection purposes, <br />then the Board of County Commissioners is authorized and directed to levy and collect a <br />tax in said district in such amount as may be deemed necessary not exceeding ten cents <br />on the one hundred dollar valuation of property in said district from year to year. <br />For said election a new registration is ordered within said district and a new <br />registration book shall be used and such book shall be open for the registration of <br />voters from 9:00 o'clock A. M. until 6:00 o'clock P. M. of each day beginning Tuesday, <br />May 14, 1968, and closing Tuesday, June 4, 1968.
