The Commissioners' goal was "to develop and implement.a Master Aging
Plan (M.A.P.) that would provide a comprehensive and coordinated delivery of community
services to senior citizens over the life span who have different levels of functional capacity."
To achieve this goal, the County Commissioners established a M.A.P. Task Force in November,
1999. After ten months, numerous meetings and three public hearings, the M.A.P. Task Force
has identified the issues, and developed goals and objectives to address the issues. The Task
Force has completed the Master Aging Plan for the BOCC's consideration.
Once adopted, the Orange County Advisory Board on Aging will make an annual progress
report on M.A.P. and recommend annual revisions including updated costs and priority changes
far the BOCC approval.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The Master Aging Plan report presents proposed costs, both start-up
(one time) and annual (recurring), for the fiscal year 2001 objectives and estimates for the years
2002-2005. Some casts are unknown at this time and to be determined (TBD) after further
research on the issue as to level of need. (See Appendix C: Summary Chark)
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board review and consider the
Master Aging Plan Report.
