May-04-00 D1 -07P Pru~~nt'ial Carol inasRlty
Lynn lrwin Cox
302 Nine Gates Rnacl
Chapel l'lill, NC ?751 h
Cliairpersan and Members
Qrange County Flanning Ho:~rd
306 Revcrc Road
~~ Hillsborough, NC 27278
Dear Members,
As the property owner that is the most impacted by the Nine Gates Subdivision
(The Waods) off Jones Ferry developed by I~irn Henry, Y have several concerns.
Unfortunately, T will be unable.to attend thn meeting this week so I would appccciatc
your entering this letter into the record.
I am very concerned about widening Nina Gates to a 5U ft. state maintained react,
Might now there is a mature hedgerow which is the habitat For many species of wildlife.
Also, l am attempting to reestablish a quail population ar-d hedgerows provide cover
for these birds. With the widening of the road this hahitai will be destroyed.
fn addition, I am very concerned about thn traffic this subdivision will generate and
ability for vehicles to safely access Nine Gaffes tram Jones Ferry and visa versa. A Iso,
I ann cxtxcmcly concerned about the future caristructiun otNinc Uatcs as a connector
road. if this should occur, what is now a quiet and beautiful, pastoral grave[ road. wit l
become a major cut through Car traffic wishing to gcC to Highway 54 or the northern part
of the county from 1 S-SOl . Il is my understaading that the Irvin property will be donated
to the Nature Conservancy which would not be compatible with a high traffic artery
cutting through it. Finally, i am cancemed ahaut my ability to access my home while the
road is being constructed and emergency vehicles'" ability to access my property at any
time. l do not work" regular nine to live hours so it is important to have this road open at
all times to accommodate my work schedule and for safety.
Twn weeps ago, I requested that the Planning staff send me the updated pertinent
infarmrativn abut this subdivision;.howevcr, Ihave not received it. Thanks you L'or your
attention,
Sincerely yours,
~1~Z~~ti~~C.
Lynn~IYrovin Cox
P . O;
May 4, 2UA0
