Attachment 1 <br />ORANGE COUNTY CULTURAL DIVERSITY TRAINING <br />TARGETED OUTCOMES <br />1. Development of team and department skills in managing diversity. <br />Team members will be able to effectively: <br />• 5trategize and plan together approaches to effective diversity management in order to <br />maximize successful customer service within their department. <br />• Discern customer service issues that are related to diversity and cultural difference and <br />those that are not, and to shape appropriate responses. <br />• Manage inter and intra-departmental issues related to diversity and cultural difference. <br />• Discern departmental matters that are related to diversity and cultural difference and <br />those that are not. <br />• Develop appropriate resolutions and approaches to inter and intra-departmental matters <br />related to diversity and cultural difference <br />2. Building employee skills in managing conflict and raising difficult issues. <br />Employees will be able to: <br />• Listen to the concerns of co-workers without judgment, blame or criticism. <br />• Express their concerns to other co-workers without judgment, blame or criticism. <br />• Acknowledge and respect differences that occur among them. <br />• Articulate and bridge those differences with respect. <br />3. Enhancing employees' communication skills. <br />Employees will be able: <br />• Listen to the points of view and ideas from others in a manner that facilitates greater <br />clarity and deeper understanding. <br />• Express their ideas to others in a manner that facilitates greater clarity, and deeper <br />understanding. <br />4. Supporting a workforce of employees who are committed to working together and <br />supporting each other in order to achieve organizational success. <br />• Employee relationships will improve as communication is enhanced and trust is <br />developed. <br />• Employees will be able to commit themselves to each other's success and the overall <br />success of their department. <br />"' Successful achievement of targeted outcomes will take place over time and include follow up, <br />feedback and support to departments in order to fully integrate, anchor and practice skills. <br />
