PU~, BLIC CAE <br />Chair Carey dispensed with the reading of the public charge. <br />C. PUBLIC. HEARING ITS <br />3s 1. O. canoe Coun Z„~,ning Ordnance Text Amendments <br />39 a. Section x0,1 Public Hearing and Notlce Thereof <br />4o Planning Director Craig Benedict made the presentation. He outlined thr~ items to be <br />41 discussed as stated an the agenda. <br />42 He summarized thg two Zoning Ordinance amendments. He said that, consistent with the <br />43 goals that have been put fortth from the County, staff looked at the public participa~an procedures that <br />44 are a requirement of the zoning code. They found that when a public hearing is oiled, the first time the <br />as public hears about what wiil'be on the public hearing is something in the newspapers. He said that a lot <br />a6 of the public believes, from tihis advertisement, that all of the ideas have been created and decisions <br />47 have been made, He summarized the process of 8 public hearing. He said that tFpe new process is <br />48 consistent with state law and includes notifications out to the public. Ne gave an eacampl~ of changing <br />a9 regulations within a watershed and said that the County would have to notify every.; person within the <br />50 watershed and every persar~ within a 50p-foot radius around the watershed. The piropasal i.s that a <br />51 notice will be sent out to ha~ne an open house or public forum prior to the public mdeting. This would <br />5z give the staff an opportunity;to meet with the public and explain the changes that are being made. <br />
