2 <br />Orange County Appointed OWASA Board Members <br />Bernadette Pelissier and Mark Marcoplos <br />Presentation to the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />August 15, 2000 <br />Comprehensive Water and Sewer Master Plan <br />Encompassing a 50-year planning horizon, OWASA's comprehensive <br />,Water and Sewer Master Plan projects water and sewer demands, and <br />identifies resources, facility, and infrastructure improvements needed to <br />reliably meet customer needs through the planning period. The initial draft <br />of the final report is expected in the fall. <br />Conservation Rates <br />OWASA is currently evaluating several types ofi conservation rate <br />structures, which are designed to send a price signal to residential, <br />commercial, and University customers discouraging wasteful use of water. <br />Quarry Reservoir <br />The Town of Carrboro is ,scheduled to consider the extended quarry <br />reservoir on August 29, 2000. <br />Water and Sewer Boundary Agreement <br />The OWASA Board of Directors will discuss this at their August 24, 2000 <br />meeting. <br />Mason Farm Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Renovation <br />and Expansion <br />The $17 million renovation and expansion of the WWTP is substantially <br />complete. Treatment capacity has been increased from 9 to 12 million <br />gallons per day, meeting our needs for the next 6 to 10 years. <br />Rogers Road Water Extension <br />OWASA will manage the Rogers Road Water Extension project and will <br />work closely with Orange County's engineer, Paul Thames throughout the <br />project. <br />
