The County executed a Lease and Facilities Agreement with the Friends,
(see attached) that leases the facility to the Friends on Sundays. This in tum allows the
Friends to rent out the area and raise a substantial portion of the funds necessary to meet their
rent obligations to the County.
In 1998 the County and the owner agreed to renew the lease through June 30, 2006, by which
time it is contemplated that the County will have completed construction of a new Southern
Orange Senior Center. The lease renewal being considered is structured to coincide with the
expiration of the lease for the Senior Center space at the Galleria.
The lease schedule for the Friends of the Chapel Hill Senior Center through June 30, 2006 is as
follows and is consistent with information presented to the Board in 1998 when the lease with
the building owner was renewed.
July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2001 $36,474
July 1, 2001 through June 30,.2002 $38,298
July 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003 $40,213
July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004 $42,223
July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005 $44,334
July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006 $46,551
