Pursuant to N.C.G.S. § 136-63, the Board of County <br />Commissioners may requ®st the Board of Transportation to abandon any road in the <br />secondary system "when the best interest of the people of the county will be served <br />ther®by". <br />• NCBOT will consider request. Any. request by a board of county commissioners refused by the <br />BOT may be presented again upon ,expiration of 12 months. <br />• If abandonment is approved by NCBOT, NCDOT will prepare the Secondary Road <br />Abandonment Investigation Report and hold a public hearing to abandon maintenance of the <br />right-of-way. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Nane to the County. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Administration Recommendation: Adopt the resolution to request <br />NCBOT to abandon 360' of SR 1586 from its intersection with St. Mary's Road. <br />
